A comparative randomized study to observe the effect of parentral iron sucrose and oral iron in the treatment of iron deficiency anaemia in pregnancy

Objective: Iron deficiency anaemia is a common problem in obstetrics throughout the developing World, despite fact that this largely preventable & easily treatable. The aim of study was to compare efficacy intravenous iron sucrose versus oral treatment anemia during pregnancy.Methods: 100 pregnant women with gestational age between 26 34 weeks mild moderate (Hb 7-10 g/dl) were selected. target Hb level 11 g/dl. Selected patients divided two equal group, Group-A received IV sucrose. drug administered by infusion. group B ferrous sulphate as iron. Repeat laboratory estimations done after six weeks. Data analyzed using SYSTAT 7.0 (SPSS Inc. USA). Differences mean percentages independent -‘t’ test.Results: Rise haemoglobin concentration observed from 8.41±0.13 11.63±0.14 g/dl Group A and 8.43±0.15 10.09±0.16 weeks.Conclusion: present revealed safe effective alternative pregnancy.
